INVITATION TO BID PROJECT SPECIFIC CONSTRUCTION SERVICES

 

The City of Daytona Beach will receive bids for the DERBYSHIRE SIDEWALKS PHASE I - THIRD STREET AND VINE STREET”, Invitation to Bid No. 20331, at the City of Daytona Beach Purchasing Division, City Hall Room 146, 301 S. Ridgewood Ave., Daytona Beach, Florida 32114, until 2:00 p.m., on July 27, 2020, at which time bids will be opened publicly and read aloud. Bids received after said time will be returned unopened.

  

The project Derbyshire Sidewalks Phase I 3rd  Street and Vine Street is within the City of Daytona Beach. The scope of the project involves sidewalk and drainage improvements on Vine Street (from Brentwood Drive to Fourth Street) and on 3rd Street (From Vine Street to Nova Road/SR5A). The proposed typical sidewalk section is 4thick, 2500 psi concrete, except for driveway locations receiving

6” thick, 2500 psi slabs on top of a 6” thick stabilized subbase. Majority of the sidewalk is 6’ wide, except for approximately 272 feet long section of 4’ wide sidewalk. The total project length is 3,144 LF (approximately .60 miles).

 

    Site Preparation includes: clearing and grubbing (removal of existing concrete pavement inlet protection, full depth pavement demolition, 1.5” milling and resurfacing, removal of existing drainage system, removal of existing sewer collection system, and other miscellaneous demolition), embankment, erosion control via sediment barrier and turbidity barrier, furnish and install signing and mailboxes, electrical power service relocation, and other relocation items.

    The drainage improvements include: installation of reinforced concrete pipes (RCP) and connection to existing pipes, swale construction, installation of ditch bottom inlets and manholes, and concrete endwall.

    The sidewalk improvements include: roadway reconstruction, 4” thick, 2500 psi concrete, except for the driveway locations receiving 6thick, 2500 psi concrete, concrete Type D curb, sidewalk ramps and detectable warning surfaces, crosswalk and pavement markings, handrail installation, sodding, and Pedestrian-Actuated Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacons (RRFBs are approved for City use on City- maintained roadways under Section 1A.10 of the 2009 edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways and the Federal Highway Administrations Interim Approval memorandum (IA-21) dated March 20, 2018). A bid alternate of Type B Stabilization is included in the Sidewalk Construction.

    The sewage collection system improvements include: installation of utility pipe, utility structures, and manhole installations.


All pedestrian facilities must follow current ADA standards.

 

 

Coordinate with AT&T Florida, Florida Power and Light, and Century Link FKA Level 3 during construction for overhead utility relocations. The City shall construct the project within the limits of the existing City of Daytona Beach Right of Way. The Yvonne Scarlett Golden Cultural & Educational Center is owned by the City of Daytona Beach.

Ridgewood Avenue, Room 146, Daytona Beach, Florida, 32114. A complete set of these Documents may be obtained upon payment of $75, NON-REFUNDABLE. Checks must be made payable to the City of Daytona Beach, Florida. All inquiries and checks pertaining to this project which are mailed should be directed to Post Office Box 2451, Daytona Beach, Florida 32115- 2451.

 

Each bid must be accompanied by Bid Security in an amount not less than 10% of the total bid.

 

A NON-MANDATORY PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE will be held at the Daytona Beach Public Works Suite 500, 950 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114, on June 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Interested contractors are urged to attend.

The successful contractor will be required to furnish separate 100% Performance and

Payment Bonds unless the Contract price is less than $100,000.

 

The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding.

 

Bids may be held by the City for a period not to exceed 60 days from the date of opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bid and investigating the qualifications of bidders prior to awarding the contract.
