Description: The scope of work consists of construction of an 8’ sidewalk on Robert Smalls Parkway. The sidewalk will be approximately 586’ in length. Construction activities include sidewalk, very minimal storm drainage work, and site lighting. The Contractor will be responsible for coordination with the City and utility companies for all utility relocation planning and construction, if applicable. 


The construction of the project is to be performed in accordance with the current edition of the South Carolina Department of Transportation’s Standard Specifications for Highway Construction. For this project, the City in association with Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, PLLC, will be performing Construction Management and Construction Engineering Inspection to document the work performed meets SCDOT’s specifications.

    A. There are lane restrictions on SC-170 which follow SCDOT lane restrictions.  See attachment.


2. Q. Are there any parades or shutdowns anticipated during the construction?
    A. There will be none that we’re aware of at this time.

3. Q. Does City Council need to approve this contract?
    A. Yes, this contract will need to be approved by City Council.

4. Q. When will this contract be brought to City Council?
    A. This contract will be brought to City Council on December 12th, 2023.

5. Q. When will the work for this start?
    A. We are anticipating the work for this project to start around March or April of
    2024.

6. Q. Do you plan to make the CAD files available?
    A. CAD files can be provided for reference only once a contractor is selected.

7. Q. Will the grassed area between the Publix & the Spanish Moss Trail be made available to the contractor for use as a laydown yard?
    A. This area will not be available, but the City will work with the selected contractor to find a suitable location. The contractor will be responsible for staging.
