Question 2

Posted: 10/30/2023

Question: Just a few Plumbing clarifications we need on this project; 1. Is the only need for gas piping is to the two space heaters in the truck bay area? No need for gas to a range/cooking stove, gas clothes dryer, etc? 2. How many exterior hose bibbs will be required? How many interior in truck bays? 3. What type of showers are expected , fiberglass, ceramic tile, ADA non ADA? 4. Will there be a need for a water cooler/bottle filler anywhere in building? 5. Wiil one floor drain in each of the shower/bathroom area suffice? 6. Shall a laundry sink in be included in the utility room at washing machine? 7. Will a floor drain be needed in utility room? 8. Will there be a need for compressed air on this project to keep trucks charged and ready? 9. Will site contractor supply and install Oil/Water Separator for the truck bay drains?

Response: 1. Yes, the only need for gas piping will be for the bay heaters with regards to the building. The generator is somewhat up in the air at this point. Unsure as to diesel or Nat. gas for a fuel source. Also, unsure of water heater situation, a tankless gas system would be preferred. 2. External at the rear, one by each bay door. Inside the bay, one connection inside the bay between the front bay doors. 3. Ceramic tile will be the preferred choice for showers, ADA only if code enforces such…but I believe code has always made the public building ADA compliant. 4. If you mean a water fountain, if code requires a water fountain, we will follow code to the least expense. 5. Yes, a primary shower drain, then a secondary drain within the restroom space in case of pipe/overflow incident. 6. Yes, a utility sink in the laundry room is preferred. 7. Yes, a single floor drain in the utility space in case of incident. 8. No, no need for plumbed compressed air. 9. SCDHEC requires oil/water separator for city/county sewer taps. I’m unsure if this site will be a city/county sewer tap. I will answer (9) with a Yes, the expectation will be for the site contractor to install the oil/water separator if required.
