Question: What is the thickness of the “Pothole Patching”?
Response: Thickness may vary 1” to 3”. Bid spec requires “ALL QUANTITIES SHALL BE VERIFIED PRIOR TO BID”. A total quantity is estimated on the Bid Sheet.

Question: On the Bid Sheet, some of the roads are listed as “Treatment” under the road type but they have Asphalt Overlay quantity and no Triple Treatment quantity. Are these meant to be Hot Mix Asphalt?
Response: Yes, asphalt overlay.

Question: Will payment for the asphalt liquid binder be adjusted based on the SCDOT Monthly Index?

Question: There appears to be descrepencies on several roads between the given quantities and what is shown highlighted on the map: Sandridge Rd given quantity was 20,064 LF; based on map approximately 29,800 LF Harley Rd given qty was 1727 LF; map aprx 2200 LF Park Forest Pkwy was 503 LF; map over 2000 LF Please advise on what quantities should be used for the bid. If actual lengths vary from bid quantities, will there be a change order for the difference?
Response: The bid shall be based on the LF of roads given on the bid sheet. The full length of the roads, Sandridge RD, Harley RD, and Park Forest PKWY are not being overlaid.

Question: Several of the listed roads have existing pavement markings but there is not a related bid item. Do you plan to have pavement markings replaced?
Response: Restoration of pavement markings will not be required

Question: There is a previous question discussing the discrepancies with lengths. There also appears to be discrepancies with roadway widths. If a road is listed as an 18' width but is actually 22' width, how do you plan to handle the cases? Are we bidding SY as listed on the bid sheet?
Response: Bid SY listed on bid sheet. After award the quantities will be adjusted if necessary.

Question: Please provide information on the desired process and material for pothole patching.
Response: Pothole patching required process is cleaning/drying out the hole, removing all loose material, tamping edge level with road grade, applying tack and hot mix.

Question: Shoulder material is not included as a pay item. Should we plan to include this in the paving/triple treatment price?
Response: Yes, however, shoulder work is limited to prepping the road and restoring to grade. Placement of fill or topsoil is not required.
