Description: Beaufort County’s Public Works installs high density polyethylene pipes (HDPE) in lieu of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) when possible. HDPE is more cost efficient to purchase and install. It is rugged, flexible, and durable. It has outstanding chemical and environmental stress crack resistance. The lighter weight, compared to reinforced concrete pipe, require smaller equipment for installation and can be installed quicker and safer than reinforced concrete pipe. There are many applications of HDPE. Quantities are kept in stock for routine projects. Projects requiring quantities that will significantly deplete our inventory of HDPE or projects which require larger diameter HDPE are periodically ordered. When possible, HDPE is ordered by the truck load and delivered to the Public Works Complex or project location. With this in mind, Beaufort County is requesting bids from qualified HDPE suppliers to provide an annual fixed cost bid on the following pricing page.
