Description: Beaufort County currently participates in the South Carolina Counties Workers’ Compensation Trust and the County is seeking qualified insurance companies (direct writers, brokers, and agents) to submit proposals to design and assist with the implementation of a comprehensive Self-insured Workers’ Compensation Program. The County is interested in a workers’ compensation program that will provide improved services to county employees and provide the lowest possible costs for workers’ compensation benefits for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017. The qualifications and proposal stages will also include third party claims administration services. It is Beaufort County’s vision to consider becoming self-insured with claims being handled by a TPA. Possible options would be for Workers’ Compensation programs with no deductible and different deductible options. The broker selected will help the County assist in this process to choose the most qualified TPA company, and the most qualified excess Workers’ Compensation carrier. This invitation is not an authorization to approach the insurance marketplace on behalf of the County. Prospective Brokers failing to comply with this condition are subject to immediate disqualification.
