Description: The Crystal Lake Passive Park is a 25 acre passive park located on Lady’s Island in Beaufort County, South Carolina. The park is an implementation of the County’s Rural & Critical Lands Program by which lands acquired through the program are made into useable passive parks. The park shall have an interpretive center created from an existing metal building repurposed to house the offices of the Beaufort County Open Land Trust, the South Carolina Soil Conservation Center, and the Friends of Crystal Lake and affiliates i.e., the Master Gardeners and Master Naturalist. In addition to the renovation of the existing building, there shall be facilities on the 25 acre site to include boardwalks, parking area, sidewalks, colonnade, solar energy panels affixed to the colonnade, security cameras, gardens with significant landscaping, a pavilion and/or observation tower (as alternates), and a pier head (repaired from vandalism). The renovated building shall have IT capabilities to handle conferences and a meeting space to handle 20 people. The building will also have interior and exterior bathroom facilities as well as limited kitchen facilities.
