Question 1

Posted: 2/13/2020

Question: We are currently servicing a total of 7 UA-Huntsville sites; 5 located at 301 Sparkman Drive and 2 located at 301 Governors Drive. Will all these sites be serviced under the new contract or just those located at 301 Sparkman Drive?

Response: Just if other University in Alabama would like to tag on to this bid.

Question 2

Posted: 2/13/2020

Question: Is it mandatory that other entities be allowed to be serviced under the new contract? The rates that we would submit with our proposal would apply to UA-Huntsville facilities only.

Response: It is not mandatory, but if all other considerations are equal, preference will be given to companies that can allow use of the contract by other entities.

Question 3

Posted: 2/13/2020

Question: What does the university consider infectious waste? It states that the university only generates regulated medical waste at this time but pricing is needed for both. Per our Waste Acceptance Policy (WAP), "medical waste" includes both regulated medical waste and infectious waste. Disposal services for other waste streams such as pathology, chemo and pharmaceutical waste can be added in the future upon service and pricing review.

Response: We are considering infectious waste any pathogenic waste over a BSL 2. We don't presently use anything over BSL2, but we would like to know pricing if we have to add it. OEHS will be consolidating all waste pickups to the Shelby Center Loading Dock because the other locations are not manned continuously. In the past, Stericycle differentiated between red tag regulated medical waste and yellow tag regulated medical waste. We presently only generate red tag, but we would like pricing on the yellow tag.
