This contract is to prepare floors and install an epoxy floor system.

GENERAL

1. It is the Contractor's responsibility to fully investigate the existing conditions and scope recommendations associated with this project before submitting a bid.

2. All construction and construction actions shall comply with local, state, and federal safety codes/requirements.

3. Contractor shall supply, receive, off-load, and maintain all materials and equipment needed to support and achieve the work described above.

4. All equipment necessary to perform the work shall be provided by the Contractor. The use of Escambia County’s equipment and personnel shall not be permitted.

5. The Contractor shall protect the building components and surrounding property from any damage directly or indirectly related to the construction activities and provide all construction barriers required by this work to protect the Contractors and Escambia County’s property and personnel.

6. The Contractors bid shall include, but not be limited to, mobilization, safety, overhead equipment, materials installation equipment, personnel, and profit fees to perform the work described.

7. The contractor shall verify all existing conditions in the document and take the steps necessary to comply with the recommendations and specific drawing details.

8. Work shall be limited to normal business hours only, unless prior approval is requested, and granted.

9. Contractor shall be responsible for securing all materials staging areas and permits required to perform the work.

10. Contractor personnel may be subject to a background check prior to performing any work at this facility.

11. Work shall be completed within 30 calendar days.

Note – The contractor is encouraged to perform a bid walkthrough of the work area to field measure and verify all documented dimensions and component counts. The walkthrough date shall be listed in the bid documents. The square footages listed below are estimates only.




EXISTING CONDITIONS
The existing vinyl flooring installed in the infirmary is not able to withstand the conditions it’s subjected to in a correctional institute and therefore must be replaced. The original vinyl flooring has been removed, but an adhesive is still present on the concrete. The adhesive will need to be removed to install the new epoxy flooring. The average size of each cell is 294 SQ FT and includes a floor drain, detention toilet/sink combo, and floor-bolted bunk beds. Bunks will be removed prior to work starting. Power will be provided via 110-amp reticules.
WORK DESCRIPTION
Work includes furnishing all materials, labor, and equipment necessary and required for the completion of the application of flooring. Installing a vapor barrier in a single color, main epoxy coat in solid color (Gray), and topcoat(urethane). The epoxy is to be applied thicker in the corners where the floor and walls meet to seal seams from leaking.

QUALITY CONTROL
1. Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced installer (applicator) who is experienced in applying resinous flooring systems similar in material, design, and extent to those indicated for this Project, whose work has resulted in applications with a record of successful in-service performance, and who is acceptable to resinous flooring manufacturer.
2. Store materials to prevent deterioration from moisture, heat, cold, direct sunlight, or other detrimental effects.
Warranty
The contractor is to provide a minimum workmanship warranty of two years after substantial completion of work.
Projects less than $25,000 will not require a bond.
A pre-solicitation meeting will be held Monday, December 12th beginning at 9:00 AM. The contractor is encouraged to attend, but not required.
