Description: The West Detroit Boulevard Resurfacing and Safety Upgrades Project will consist of the milling and resurfacing of Detroit Boulevard from approximately 450’ east of the SR 297 (Pine Forest Road) intersection to just east of Cherry Avenue at the FDOT’s SR 95 (US 29) Project. In addition, this project includes the construction of a westbound right turn lane at the Detroit/Untreiner intersection, an enhanced crosswalk with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon on the west leg of the Detroit/Untreiner intersection, improving radius returns at side streets to prevent off-tracking, and associated minor drainage works. The proposed improvements will be constructed within the existing Escambia County rights-of-way along Detroit Boulevard. A Temporary Construction Easement (TCE) has been obtained in the southeast quadrant of the Detroit/Untreiner intersection to construct the drainage modifications. There is a previous fuel service station/convenience store (EZ Serve #4164 site) located in the southeast quadrant of the Detroit/Untreiner intersection that has been remediated by FDEP and is being sampled quarterly in 2022 to document the results of the remediation.
