Georgetown County has focused exclusively on industrial and manufacturing recruitment and product development over the years.  As we continue to pursue the goals and tactics outlined in our prior plans, we recognize that there is a need to address much needed growth in workforce housing and commercial development.  We have heard from numerous industrial prospects over the last several years that the lack of growth in the area causes concern over future talent attraction.   Both the Charleston region to our south and Horry County to our north are experiencing tremendous residential, commercial and industrial growth.  We recognize that these sectors – residential, commercial and industrial, work together to create a sustainable community.  We continue to work from our 2016 industrial strategic plan and we have commissioned a residential needs assessment.  This Commercial  strategy will allow us to round out our efforts to focus on all facets of our local economy.
