Alabama A & M University Sealed Solicitation
Title: Power Plant Simulator for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department
Deadline: 8/8/2019 2:00 PM (UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)
Status: Awarded
Solicitation Number: Bid No. 2K19-13B
Description:
Alabama A&M University
(“University”) is seeking bids from vendors to provide the Computer Science
Department with a Power Plant Simulator possessing all of the functional
requirements and ancillary equipment defined in this specification. The awarded vendor will be required to
provide installation services at the University’s site complete with startup
and hands-on training for students within a scheduled session.
POWER PLANT FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION
A.
Functional Description: The power plant simulator consists of transformers to
simulate the process of a power generating plant and transformers to simulate
remote substations for step-up or step-down voltages. Starting at the Main Power Generation Plant
(simulated), the power will be split to two different substations. At these substations, the voltage will be
stepped down to different voltages to simulate the different common voltages
used by the consumers. Control
Transformers will be used to step up or step down the voltage to simulate the
substations.
Voltage sensors will be located at incoming and outgoing sources, and the
voltages will be displayed on analog meters located on the simulator. There are also switches and indicator lights
at each substation to represent circuit breakers and switches in a real
system. Most power generation plants and
some industries have backup generators to supply power to their plant in case
of plant power failure. These will be
simulator at the power plant and the industrial plant on the simulator. There is an indicator light that represents
the status of the generator. All
voltages, switches, circuit breakers, and generators will be monitored by the
PLC and the HMI.
Power Plant Simulator must include:
·
Enclosure
with Subpanel, approximately 30”H x 48”W x 24” with Casters
·
Schneider
Electric M340 PLC and I/O
·
Unmanaged
Ethernet Switch, 5 Port
·
Simulator
System including Transformers, Sensors, Switches, etc.
·
Programming
for HMI and PLC Integration of the Power Station Simulator
·

Labor for Panel and Simulator Construction
Vendor will provide
Installation, Startup, and Training Services to include:
·
On-site
installation and wiring of simulator systems
·
