Response: The Town does not post estimated budgets.

Question 2

Posted: 4/9/2025

Question: Will the power lines be relocated or deenergized during the bridge construction.

Response: See Addendum 2.

Question 3

Posted: 4/9/2025

Question: Can the 2 PDA's or Static Load tests be performed on the same bent of pile. If not can they be performed on the 2 End Bents.

Response: See Addendum 2.

Question 4

Posted: 4/10/2025

Question: Please clarify if existing bridges need to be removed completely including complete extraction of piles.

Response: See Addendum 2.

Question 5

Posted: 4/10/2025

Question: Are there any record drawings of the existing bridges?

Response: See Addendum 2.

Question 6

Posted: 4/10/2025

Question: Power transmission lines require a work clearance of 20 to 45 feet depending on the kv of the line. New piling may need to be spliced and installed in segments under the transmission line.

Response: There is no question here.

Question 7

Posted: 4/10/2025

Question: According to notes on S0 and S4, pile lengths are to be determined by geotechnical engineer. Please specify pile length for the bridges, boardwalk, and pier head.

Response: See Addendum 2.

Question 8

Posted: 4/10/2025

Question: What is the KV and height of the power lines?

Response: We did not receive a response yet and will post as a third addendum if we get the information in time.

Question 9

Posted: 4/10/2025

Question: Confirm bolts for braces and pile caps are stainless steel 316.

Response: See Addendum 2.

Question 10

Posted: 4/10/2025

Question: 1. Are alternate engineered designs of the timber vehicular bridges acceptable if the comply with the desired HS-20 load rating? 2. For the New river pier and pier head can the stringer size be increased to 3x10’s instead of 2x10 to allow for top down building methods? 3. How many piles are to be tested per structure and are these production piles or strictly test piles? 4. For demo can the existing pilings be cut off at ground elevation instead of being removed? 5. Are vibratory pile driving methods acceptable? 6. Will WearDeck be considered as an alternate composite decking to the specified Trex Decking?

Response: See Addendum 2.

Question 11

Posted: 4/10/2025

Question: 1. The geotechnical report prepared by GHD on February 23, 2024 states in section 4.1.2, that a model was run to simulate the installation of the pilings used on the Bridges and pier. Would you allow the piles to be installed with a vibratory hammer under the condition that PDA testing should performed to confirm pile capacity was achieved? The existing trussells are located under the high voltage power lines and we have concerns about using a crane with metal leads & hammer to install the piles. 2. For Bid Purposes, please specific the pile lengths for the Bridges and Pier? 3. The bid form Miscellaneous line item is “Clearing and Cleanup of Santee Cooper Tree Topping Debris” for 1 Lump Sum. 4. For Bid Purposes, please quantify the removal and/or mulching of the existing dead trees and tree limbs. 5. Would you allow us to mulch the debris with a cutter head and leave the mulch? 6. The trees that have been topped out, the remaining tree that was left in the ground, should it be cut down as well and removed? 7. For the section of concrete trail that starts at the existing parking lot at New River Trail, should the tree roots under the slab be removed? How deep would you like to excavate? 8. Are any underground utilities present at the 3 each bridge and 1 each pier location? 9. We assume a South Carolina Bridge License is required to install the 3 each timber bridges and a Marine and/or Bridge license required construct the 1 each timber pier? 10. All Bridges are shown to be constructed at 13’8”x38’, however the existing Bridge shown in phase 2 measures 62’(existing plan shows 66’). How will the existing span of 62’ be achieved with the proposed Bridge length of 38’? 11. The bid sheet states the cut material for the trail is assumed at 1’ for length of trail, if the paving section detail shows 7.5” (max) of material to be installed for paving section are we required to provide the additional fill? 12. The plans do not provide enough details to price the heavy duty asphalt connector to the four seasons elevated wetland board walk as shown on Sheet C5.7. Please provide enough plan detail that we can provide a price or provide an lump sum allowance for this line item. 13. Are there any additional details for the wooden connection/bulkhead to connect to the existing four seasons Bridge? 14. Will the fixed bollard on sheet C6.9 be used on either side of the power poles or will an additional detail be provided for those bollards? 15. Is the Owner going to provide the Builders Risk/All Risk for the Project or should this be included in the Contractor’s Bid? 16. In the IFB, it says there is no liquidated damages. In the contract, it states $500/day. Please confirm which it is? 17. Based on the existing site conditions, removal and disposal of unsuitable soil (Mucking) will be required. Please provide a quantity and unit price for this work on the bid sheet. 18. Sapp Structural Drawings – Bridges/Pier – S.0 calls for 8” minimum tip pile, Plansheets S1, S2 & S3 call for 12”minimum tip pile. For bid purposes, please indicate the Minimum Tip Diameter of Pile. 19. Sapp Structural Drawings – Bridge/Pier – Are the timber screws specified for the bridges/pier required to be 304 Grade Stainless Steel or 316 Grade Stainless Steel? Are Galvanized Screws Allowed? 20. Sapp Structural Drawings – Bridge/Pier – Are Hot Dipped Galvanized Timber Bolts Allowed? Or should they be 304 Grade Stainless Steel or 316 Grade Stainless Steel? 21. On the Simpson hardware for the Pier Roof, can it be Hot Dipped Galvanized or must it be Stainless Steel? 22. On Sheet S3, for Phase 1, Please confirm the full roofing assembly at detail E. No additional information is provided beyond the plywood. 23. Can the 1” drift pins for the Bridge Joist be Hot Dipped Galvanized vs Stainless Steel as specified. 24. If Stainless Steel is required, please specify if is 304 Grade or 316 Grade? 25. For the Bridge Abutment Soldier Piles, can round timber piles be quoted in lieu of the specified 8x8’s? 26. The GHD Trail Subgrade Report, Paragraph 6.1, states that 3 feet of soil must be removed under all trails & 24” of clean sand base be installed. The civil plans do not reflect that detail. Is this going to be required by the Civil Engineer? 27. We highly recommend you change the ½” bolts specified on the Bridge Rail & Curb detail to ¾” bolts.

Response: See Addendum 2.
