Description: Sealed bids will be received in hand in the office of the Purchasing Officer, Oconee County Board of Commissioners (OCBOC), Suite 203, 23 N. Main Street, Watkinsville, GA. 30677, until 2:30 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2017 for the demolition and disposal for the Old Jail located at 23 N. Main Street, Watkinsville, GA 30677. This Jail, which was connected to the Oconee County Court House during a renovation in the 1990s, was constructed in 1905 and is located on the corner of North Third Street and Water Street, Watkinsville, GA 30677. The Old Oconee Jail Building is a 3-story structure 3,542 SF. An asbestos inspection revealed that asbestos and/or asbestos containing materials were found. Also, a lead paint inspection revealed that lead paint and/or lead paint containing materials were found. Please see the bid documents for full specifications/work scope. Pre-Bid Meeting Details: A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Commission Chambers, Suite 205, at the place given above. All interested parties are required to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to allow potential bidders an opportunity to present questions to staff and obtain clarification of the requirements of the bidding document. Because Oconee County considers such a meeting to be critical to understanding the bid requirements, attendance at the pre-bid meeting is mandatory to qualify as a bidder.
