Sealed bids for the Maine Street (24^th to Emery Dr.) – Water Main Replacement (MU 012) Project in the City of Quincy, Adams County, Illinois, described herein will be received at the office of the City Clerk, 730 Maine Street, City Hall, Quincy, Illinois 62301 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 8^th, 2020 and at that time publicly opened and read aloud in the City Hall Council Chamber.

The City of Quincy’s MU 012 Project consists 2410 feet of 6” and 8” water main, 1280 feet of water service lines, 1535 feet of curb & gutter, 645 feet of curb replacement, 2022 square yards of pavement patching, 358 tons of hot-mix asphalt, and related items.

Plans and specifications are available online at www.quincyil.gov/bids and may be examined at the office of Department of Utilities & Engineering, City Hall, 730 Maine Street, Quincy, Illinois 62301. 

All bids shall be accompanied by either a bid bond on the “Proposal Bid” form contained in the proposal, executed by a corporate surety company satisfactory to the city of Quincy, or a bank cashier’s check, an irrevocable letter of credit or a properly certified check for not less than 5 percent of the amount bid, or for the amount listed in the specifications.

The contractor shall be prequalified to perform construction work with the Illinois Department of Transportation or the Illinois Capital Development Board.  Sub-contractors are not required to be pre-qualified.

The City Council of Quincy reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.

No bid may be withdrawn after the time for opening of the bids is past.

Bidders are notified that not less than the prevailing wage rate as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor shall be paid to all workers performing work under this contract.
