Description:

1.1          SOLICITATION

 

A.      Sealed bids from contractors will be received by Walker County Board of Education in the

Facilities & Operations Department at 298 Culberson Avenue, LaFayette, GA 30728 until 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 17, 2020 for removal and abatement of materials to prepare for remodeling:

B.    A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Walker County Board of Education, Facilities & Operations Department. Any person or entity that fails to attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting will not be permitted to submit a Bid for the Project and any Bid submitted by a person or entity that did not attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting will be returned unopened.

C.    Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. No extension of bid will be made. Interested parties are invited to attend.

 

1.2            BID DOCUMENTS

 

A.      Bid documents may be examined at 298 Culberson Avenue or by calling 706-639-0168

B.      No deposits are required and no refunds will be made.

C.      Bid documents will not be sent to plan rooms.

 

1.3          CONDITIONS

 

A.      No bid may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after bids are opened.

B.      Bid bond in the amount of five percent of the base bid is required and must be submitted with the bid. A bid bond is the only acceptable form of bid security. No personal checks, cashier’s checks, certified checks or cash will be accepted in lieu of the bid bond.

C.      Performance and payment bonds in the amount of one-hundred percent (100%) of the contract sum will be required prior to commencement of construction.

D.      All bonds shall be written by a surety licensed to conduct business in Georgia, listed on the Federal

Register and acceptable to the Owner.

E.       Bidder shall attach a Contractor Affidavit and Agreement demonstrating compliance with O.C.G.A. 13-10-91, Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act. Bidder shall also comply with provisions of

O.C.G.A. 50-36-1, Verification of Lawful Presence Within United States through the use of the Systematic

Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program and shall provide verification of compliance with executed affidavits which are a part of the bid packet or are available on the Georgia audits and Accounts website at http://www.audits.ga.gov/NALGAD/section_3_affidavits.html.

F.       Owner reserves the right to waive technicalities and irregularities and to reject any or all bids. The bids will be evaluated and awarded to what is most advantageous for the Walker County Board of Education.

G.      By submitting a bid, the Bidder agrees to sign the Owner’s STANDARD FORM OF FIXED PRICE

CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, which is one of the bid documents.

Overview:

Contractor Bidders are advised that the following is hereby made a part of the above referenced plans, specifications or clarifications per the Walker County Board of Education.

 

IN SPECIFICATIONS:

 

  1. No listing on this Addendum per Specifications in Work Plan:

 

 

CLARIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Contractors please see attached Drawings outlining Dimensions per presentation at Pre-Bid Meeting.

  2. Contractors please note that the Walker County System will provide Dumpster(s) for the Non-ACM Carpet and Material and it will be delivered to the C&D Landfill by Republic Services. The Contractor will as already directed remove and load all designated material.

  3. Roof Breezeway Removal: (Flashing and Tar are 3 to 7% Chrysotile):  You may cut the steel support post at top of handrail in removal. As expected by the Specs and discussed you will remove the Breezeway in its entirety. The Auditorium Demolition Contractor will proceed as instructed for the stationary remaining handrails.

  4. The Breezeway is connected in the back to the Auditorium Wall and it will be demolished. The building facing it and to its left will not be demolished. The building to its right with the slant (45 degrees) is the main building to be renovated. You will remove that portion of the Breezeway in careful manner not damage to the 100 Bldg.

  5. Removal of Non-ACM Carpet: During removal of this carpet, the Contractor will relocate any unattached shelving or cabinets in order to remove the carpet and clean the floor. Contractor will not remove any attached shelving or cabinets. You will cut around the furnishings in smooth manner and it will be removed during the renovation.

  6. Exception: On 2nd Floor the Contractor will remove the shelving and VCT from room as directed in closet room 22-A.  Removal of any obstruction to access the ACM will be expected per specifications.

  7. All Contractors per any ACM removal project must have some method of transporting the material to a qualified landfill. We are not recommending nor suggesting any Hauler or Transporter so the listed info is only for your information.  SANTEK of Dalton said they would be happy to discuss this issue with you with us being in Georgia: Name of Contact: Page Heywood: 706-277-7188 or Lori in the office at 706-277-7188.  There are various Hazardous Landfills in some general direction so this is up to each Contractor to make their own decisions concerning the item.
