Description: The scope of Work for this project is the development of the property located at Raider Drive in Bluffton, South Carolina for the construction of a Fire Station #38 comprised of 8,230 square feet for the Fire Station and an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) comprised of 2,304 square foot. The Project is divided in to two construction phases, the Fire Station Building being the First Phase portion of the Project and the Second Phase of the project being the EOC. The Contractor shall divide its project bid into two distinct parts as illustrated in the Project Drawings, that being First Phase pricing for the Fire Station Building inclusive of the entire site development and Second Phase pricing for the construction of the Emergency Operations Building inclusive of all utilities and final site work for the EOC.

Pre-Bid Meeting Details: Two Mandatory pre-bid conferences will be held on Thursday, February 14 and Thursday February 21, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., in the Bluffton Fire District’s Conference Room located at 357 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC 29909. Bidders are responsible for their own transportation. All interested bidders must attend the meeting in order to bid on the project. Contractors only need to attend one meeting.

Question: When bidding a job how do we cover the cost of a structural engineer in bid when it is not our job yet, but we will still owe for his services?
Response: The question needs additional information as to the situation the person is referencing. On one hand, the simple response is for the bidder to place a cost within his proposal to compensate the engineer once the services are rendered (I don’t quite understand the last part, “but we will still owe for his services” ).

Question: On the Rolling Service Doors Section 08 3300. Specifications, Line 1.2 System Description, A 1. Wind Loading to be 30 PSF, which is not problem, but on Line 2.3 B. Accessories, calls for Vision Panels 10” x 1 – 5/8”. We cannot exceed Wind load above 20 PSF. when using Vision Lites. Can we omit the Vision Panels or the Wind Load?
