Description:

The Hilton Head Island Airport (“Airport”) Commercial Service Terminal was built pre-September 11, 2001.  Therefore, it does not have restrooms in the passenger hold room area that is located beyond what is now the TSA security checkpoint.  That reality creates an inconvenience for passengers who have checked in through security but are awaiting the boarding call for their flight.  The current building is not large enough to construct an additional restroom facility inside the building because of the increasing number of passengers taking advantage of the new jet service. 

Due to the increasing amount of passengers, the Airport will undertake a major terminal expansion and renovation project in the near future.  It is not entirely clear whether the existing hold room will remain as such or if it will be repurposed.  Because of that and until that time, a temporary solution is required.  The Airport has opted to pursue an outdoor, temporary restroom option.  This facility will be located beyond the security checkpoint and will remain inside the security confines of the hold room by use of a fence that prevents access to the aircraft ramp area.

Please refer to the specifications and the project sketches that have been provided by the Airport’s architect.

The goal of this RFP is to procure a best-value, turnkey solution that meets the intent of the project specifications and fulfills the needs of the Airport.

It will be required for the successful bidder to coordinate with the Airport’s Security Coordinator in order to review the security requirements of the access point.
