Type of Addition: Addendum #3 QUESTIONS

Overview:

  1. The RFP is titled ‘Geotechnical Engineering Services’ and states that site investigations and subsurface exploration are potentially part of the scope of services on page 14; however, there appears to be a geotechnical exploration previously performed at the site in 2019.  Is the project being designed from this 2019 geotechnical report, or are additional geotechnical services being requested as part of this scope of services for the RFP?   The design is based on the 2019 Geotechnical Report. The original services are not to be “redone” as part of this RFP. Additional soil borings may need to be done during construction if unsuitable materials are discovered in other areas.

  1. The statement of Special Inspections includes inspections for helical pile foundations as well as post-tension and prestressed concrete.  These do not seem to be applicable to this project based on provided plans and specs. Please clarify if we are to include these items in scope and pricing. These are not applicable to this project.

  1. The note on the Statement of Special Inspections for helical pile foundations says “the approved geotechnical report and the construction documents prepared by the registered design professional shall be used to determine compliance.”  However, the 2019 geotechnical report only includes a deep foundation section in the ‘preliminary bridge recommendations’, and this does not discuss helical pile foundations.  If inspections are required for helical pile foundations, please clarify what shall be used for compliance. Helical pile foundations are not applicable to this project.

  1. Should we include NPDES Stormwater Construction Compliance Observation (SWPPP) Services as a separate line item in our scope of services for this project?  No, Seamon Whiteside will be performing the construction SWPPP services for this project.

  1. Can you please verify what level of masonry inspection is required? This is not noted on the Statement of Special Inspections. I have asked the Architect this question and am waiting to get an answer back from him. Will let you know as soon as I do.
