Deadline: 2/15/2023 2:00 PM   (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Status: Deadline Expired

Solicitation Number: 38443

Description: This is a per ton timber sale comprised of approximately 167.3 acres within the Thomas Creek Conservation Area, located in northern Duval County west of U.S. Highway 1 and north of Acree road. The Sale Area is accessed from Acree Road and Freedom Drive. Sale boundaries include Acree Road, railroad, hardwood swamp, and obvious change in pine type (Maps are included in the attached
agreement). This is a combination of logger-select thinning and clearcut. The thinning is within 17-year-old slash pine and longleaf plantations. The clearcut is 62.8 acres of mature slash pine established in 1990. All merchantable pine shall be harvested from the clearcut areas. Timber to remove from the thinning areas includes every third row for access and a select thinning of the leave rows to reach an average target of 200 trees per acre. Timber to remove from leave rows will be harvested based on the following criteria:
diseased, defective, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired density. Dominant trees shall not be harvested from leave rows. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 3,550 tons of pine pulpwood, 2,470 tons of chip-n-saw, 1,320 tons of sawtimber, but there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
