Description: The Black Creek Water Resource Development Project (Project) is being constructed to increase recharge to the Upper Floridan aquifer in northeast Florida using excess flow from Black Creek, in Clay County. Part of the project includes construction of a treatment area to treat water from Black Creek prior to discharge into Alligator Creek. Gopher tortoises (Gopherus polyphemus) are present on the treatment area site and will be relocated by St. Johns River Water Management District (District) staff.
The District desires to have gopher tortoises, that have been captured by District staff, delivered to a consultant or other agent for marking, documentation, and transport to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FFWCC) permitted long-term protected gopher tortoise recipient site. Refer to the attached Statement of Work for additional project details (Exhibit 1).
