Question 1

Posted: 3/30/2021

Question: Can you confirm the usage of OM3 fiber? It appears the longest portion of the cabling run is 3k feet long (~983 meters). Distance limitations for OM3 are 550m.

Response: o After research it is determined that single mode fiber is required. There will be 5 separate single mode fiber runs identified by color on the attached map. See Addendum 1

Question 2

Posted: 3/30/2021

Question: How is the fiber terminating at points #7, #12, #13 and #17 on the drawing. The site plan just shows a J box with no details on mounting a termination device.

Response: Addendum #1

Question 3

Posted: 3/30/2021

Question: Can you verify the fiber lengths on the Site Plan? For example, it says from #4 to #5 is 86' and #5 to #6 is 68'. Point #5 to #6 is a significantly longer line on the drawing but shows to be shorter in the chart.

Response: o Fiber conduit lengths have been verified and updated on the attached map. See addendum 1

Question 4

Posted: 3/30/2021

Question: Are points #8 and 10? going to be splice points or will the cable route from point #6 to #7 then back to #6 and on to point #8?

Response: o The attached updated map has been updated to reflect all points. There are no splices between the building and final termination points. See Addendum 1

Question 5

Posted: 4/1/2021

Question: We have previously used Corning fiber on other City of Conroe projects. Is Corning fiber an acceptable alternative to the specified OFS fiber?

Response: o Corning is preferred

Question 6

Posted: 4/1/2021

Question: Can you verify that you want the cabling contractor to supply and install the eight (8) or more rack mounted copper to multimode fiber converters? Typically these are installed in the network switch as an SFP module. Please provide a part number or more detailed information as we will need to know what fiber connections and network speed are needed.

Response: o The City does want rack mounted media converters independent of any networking equipment. These should LC connectors 1GB or faster. This can be discussed in further detail after bid award.

Question 7

Posted: 4/5/2021

Question: There are (5) cable Runs. Do all (5) cable runs homerun back to #1 Admin Building?

Response: See Addendum #3

Question 8

Posted: 4/5/2021

Question: If all (5) cable runs do not homerun back to #1 Admin Building, do Cable Run (1) and (2) Terminate at #1 Admin Building and Cable Runs (3), (4) and (5) Terminate at #4 Maint Building with a backbone 12ct from #4 Maint Building to #1 Admin Building?

Response: See Addendum 3

Question 9

Posted: 4/5/2021

Question: How many (LC, SMF, 1GB) Media Converters is the contractor required to provide?

Response: See Addendum #3

Question 10

Posted: 4/5/2021

Question: It looks like it would require (8) remote media converters and would these need to be hardened for outdoor J-Boxes?

Response: See Addendum #3

Question 11

Posted: 4/5/2021

Question: Can we have a bid date extension of one (1) week? due to the additional information, questions and need for a bid bond.

Response: Yes, Addendum 2 extended the bid due date to 4/15/21
