Sealed bids for “Corley Avenue Widening” will be received by City of Boaz until but not later than 10:00 A.M. May 13, 2025. Bids may be hand delivered to 200 Elizabeth Street, Suite 464, Boaz, AL 35957 or mailed to 112 North Broad Street, Boaz, AL 35957. Bids received either by hand delivery or mail after the specified date and hour will not be considered.

Bids should be returned in a sealed envelope or container clearly labeled with “Bid” on the outside along with the name, address and license number of the bidder; the name of the project (“Corley Avenue Widening, City of Boaz, Alabama,” and addressed to the attention of Mr. Lynn Holsonback, City of Boaz, 112 North Broad Street, Boaz, Alabama 35957. Bids will be publicly opened and read at 10:10 A.M on May 13, 2025 at the Boaz Recreation Center Meeting Room, 400 Elizabeth Street, Boaz, AL 35957.

The principal items of work are approximately as follows:

3750 SQ YD MICRO-MILLING PAVEMENT (APPROX 1.10” THRU 2.00” THICK)
500 TON ASPHALT WEARING SURFACE, ESAL A/B
500 TON ASPHALT BINDER LAYER, ESAL A/B
350 LIN FT ROADWAY OR SIDE DRAIN PIPE
330 LIN FT CONCRETE GUTTER (VALLEY)
430 LIN FT COMBINATION CURB & GUTTER, TYPE C (MODIFIED)

The project shall be completed within 45 working days.

A non-refundable payment of $22.00 will be required to download the plans and contract documents.

The Contractor must purchase and obtain the plans and specifications from the website listed above to submit a bid. Bids must be submitted upon the forms included with the contract documents and specifications. The contract documents and specifications must be submitted in their entirety.

No bids will be considered unless the bidder, whether resident or non-resident of Alabama, is properly qualified to submit a bid for this construction in accordance with all applicable laws of the State of Alabama. This requirement shall include evidence of holding a current license with specialty of HS (Highways & Streets) from the State Licensing Board for General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama, as required by Chapter 8 of Title 34, of the Code of Alabama, 1975 as amended. In addition, non-residents of the State, if a corporation, shall show evidence of having qualified with the Secretary of State to do business in the State of Alabama.

Each bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond (as defined in Section 2 Instructions to Bidders within the Contract Documents) in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the Bid, not to exceed $10,000. The Bid Bond may be from a surety satisfying the requirements specified in the Contract Documents or Certified Check upon a national or state bank, payable without recourse to the City of Boaz as a guarantee that the Bidder will within fifteen (15) days after the Notice of Award enter into a Contract. At the time of Contract signing, the successful bidder must furnish a certificate of insurance coverage as provided in the specifications and a Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond equal to 100% of the Contract amount each with a surety company acceptable to the OWNER and in a form acceptable to the OWNER. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the opening of bids without the consent of the City of Boaz.

The OWNER reserves the right after opening bids to reject any or all bids, to waive any technicality and/or informality (non-responsiveness) in a bid, or to make award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder and reject all other bids, as it may best serve the interest of the OWNER.
