Title: Lochloosa Timber Sale
Deadline: 11/15/2022 2:00 PM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Status: Deadline Expired
Solicitation Number: 38277
Description: This is a per ton timber sale comprised of approximately 207.1 acres within the Lochloosa Wildlife Conservation Area, located in Alachua County south of Hawthorne. The Sale Area is in Section 4; Township 12 South; Range 22 East. Sale boundaries include Right Arm Prairie, Conservation Area roads, timbered wetlands, and lines between pine stands marked with orange paint (Maps are included in the attached agreement). This timber sale is a combination of marked thinning and logger-select thinning within mature slash pine plantations that were previously thinned 15 years ago. The marked thinning consists of the yellow stands on the Sale Area map were harvest trees are marked with blue paint at eye level. Stands 2703137 and 2703222 are logger-select thinning. Here trees shall be harvested from the old leave rows based on the following criteria: diseased, defective, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the inter-mediate and codominant trees to reach the desired density of 45-50 square feet of basal area per acre. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 2,988 tons of pine pulpwood, 1,103 tons of Chip-n-saw, 128 tons of sawtimber, but there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
