The Building Code Data on Sheet AG-0-001 calls for Type IB Construction requiring a 2 Hour Primary Structure, 2 Hour Interior and Exterior Bearing Walls , 2 Hour Floor Construction, and 1 Hour Roof Construction. The Drawings (B1/AE-3-102, A1/AE-3-102,A1/AE-3-103, etc ) call for 2 Hour Roof Assembly, and 2 Hour rating on Structural Frame Beams, and Secondary Beams to have a 2 Hour Rating-which exceeds Codes requirements. Please verify if the 2 Hour rating is required-even though not required by the Code Requirements for the Project. 2. The Building Code Data on Sheet AG-0-001 calls for Type IB Construction requiring a 2 Hour Primary Structure, 2 Hour Interior and Exterior Bearing Walls , 2 Hour Floor Construction, and 1 Hour Roof Construction. IBC and SBC allow that the Primary Structural Frame may have the Hourly rating Reduced from 2 Hour to 1 Hour where supporting a Roof only.—Please clarify if accepted for this project 3. The Building Code Data on Sheet AG-0-001 calls for Type IB Construction requiring a 2 Hour Primary Structure, 2 Hour Interior and Exterior Bearing Walls , 2 Hour Floor Construction, and 1 Hour Roof Construction. Please verify if the beams and columns in the Exterior Wall will require a 2 Hour rating -if they are not load bearing Exterior walls 4. The Building Code Data on Sheet AG-0-001 calls for Type IB Construction requiring a 2 Hour Primary Structure, 2 Hour Interior and Exterior Bearing Walls , 2 Hour Floor Construction, and 1 Hour Roof Construction. The Column Details (Sheet AE-5-102, AE-5-103) show 2 Hour rating, but the Code allows the Structural Frame Columns that support a Roof only to have the rating reduced from 2 Hours to 1 Hour for Type I-B Construction. Please clarify requirements for this project. 5. Refer to Sheet AE-1-105 and Wall Sections on SheetAE-3-201. A Deck Board is shown installed on the Roof deck under the Roof Insulation. Clarify what type of deck board is used, as it is not specified. If a 5/8” Sheetrock or 5/8” Densdeck is used as a deck Board on the metal deck under the roof Insulation, then the Fireproofing thickness on the Roof deck would be reduced. ½” Thickness of Sheetrock or densdeck, or Plywood used as the deck Board does not provide any help for the Fireproofing thickness. 6. Refer to Sheet AE-1-105. This Existing Roof area between Columns O and U, between Columns 6 and 11 is shown Having the Existing Roof removed to the deck with a new Roofing System installed. Is the Existing Roof System already fireproofed ? When the Existing Roof System is removed and replaced--- most-if not all of the Existing Fireproofing will delaminate from the deck, with a large portion falling off. –Who would be responsible for replacing the Fireproofing? What Rating would be required? What type of Fireproofing would be required? Would the Existing Fireproofing left hanging from the deck need to be replaced? The Full Framing plan of this Existing roof area would be needed in order to determine the amount of Fireproofing required. 7. Refer to Section 078100 Applied Fireproofing-Paragraph 2.2 Intumescent Paint Fireproofing. We could not find any Intumescent Paint Fireproofing on the plans. Please clarify where intumescent Paint Fireproofing is required. 8. Refer to Section 078100 Applied Fireproofing-Paragraph 2.1 Cementitious Fireproofing –only High Density Fireproofing is Specified. a. High Density Fireproofing can not be installed direct on metal deck, as it is too heavy. Installation of High Density Fireproofing on metal roof deck (or metal floor deck) requires the installation of metal lath on the roof deck at an additional cost—of between $5.00 and $7.50 per SF.—Please advise if a different Density fireproofing would be approved. b. High Density Fireproofing is much more expensive than Medium Density Fireproofing (around half the cost of High Density Fireproofing), or Standard Density Fireproofing (60 % of the Cost of Medium Density Fireproofing). Can either Medium Density Fireproofing or Standard Density Fireproofing can be used at different locations. ? High Density Fireproofing-as Specified at Exterior Columns at the Canopy? ? Medium Density Fireproofing at Exterior Beams and Roof deck at the Canopy, with either a 3/8” to 5/8” overspray of High Density Fireproofing over the Medium Density Fireproofing? ? Medium Density Fireproofing at Exposed Interior Roof Assembly and beams?. ? Standard Density fireproofing at Concealed Roof framing-including beams, and Concealed Columns? ? 9. Clarify if Overcoat/Sealer (Refer to Section 078100 Applied Fireproofing Paragraphs 2.3B and 3.3B) is required. ? 10. Refer to Section 078100 Applied Fireproofing-Paragraph 3.3A. – Clarify if at Exposed locations is a trowel smooth surface with formed square edges is required. On Roof deck---with the deck going up and down---you can not provide a smooth trowel finish. On Beams---you can not install a smooth trowel finish on beams tips, and you can not provide formed square edges. Fireproofing Contractors do not have Plasterers any more.
