Description: Dorchester County is requesting sealed proposals from interested and qualified parties for the design, provision, and installation of a playground at the upcoming Pine Trace Park, located in Summerville, SC. 


Pre-Bid Meeting Date: 12/14/2023 12:30 PM

Pre-Bid Meeting Details: A non-mandatory site visit will take place at 12:30 pm on December 14, 2023. This will be the only opportunity to see the site prior to the notice of intent to award a contract. Respondents should gather at the site entrance located at the end of Chandler Creek Road in Summerville, SC, where the group will be escorted to the construction trailer and then the future playground area.

Question: Good Morning. The attachments on the bid, I see a park Davis Bailey Park pictures. Is this for inspiration for the new park? Thank you in advance.

Response: These pictures are to show the base mulch and border desired. They are not to be construed as the design intent or inspiration.

Question: Good Morning! Where you all able to get the CAD drawings for the playground space?

Response: We have already responded to this question. Please see the public solicitation.

Question: Is there a tree plot available for that area? Was there a survey done by the contractor that depicts the trees in that area so that we have a better idea of tree removal?

Response: Large, existing trees are shown on the drawings provided.

Question: - Are swings required? - Is the client interested in wear mats for slide exits and under swings (if required)? - For the HIC and G-max testing is the warranty based on the surfacing or the equipment? - “Existing large shade trees to remain” from the Services Requested in RFP page. I know their addendum stated that “Proposers are to identify trees that will need to be removed. Owner will be responsible for tree removal. Owner will be responsible for clearing and rough grading of the area in preparation of playground installation.” Is that all the trees in the space now or are they still wanting to keep specific “large shade trees” if so can they identify which ones they would like to keep? - What “hardscape” are they wanting to be in our scope of work?

Response: - Inclusion of swings is at discretion of proposer. - Wear mats are preferred and should be included as a separate line item in cost proposals. - The HIC and G-Max testing is for surfacing. - Tree removal or inclusion will be designed by proposer; however, costs for tree removal will be subtracted from the available budget for the playground. - Inclusion of any hardscape components is decision for proposers.
