Question: Has there been and environmental report done on the house and is there any anticipation of asbestos abatement being required?

Response: As the documents state, Helton & Associates conducted asbestos testing and none was found.

Question: In the event that the winning bid is in excess of $25, 001.00 will KCDC/Knoxville Airport Authority require the winning bidder to be a properly licensed and endorsed General contractor

Response: The awarded vendor must comply with State licensure requirements.

Question: Are the trees on the property included in the demolition or can they be left alone? Also, is the pollution insurance a requirement for this job?

Response: We do not encourage the cutting of trees and shrubs when not necessary for the scope of work. However, a vendor may find such action necessary to make work feasible. The awarded supplier must meet all insurance requirements outlined in the solicitation document.

Response: We have seen competitive price quotes between $5.45 and $6.35 per square foot on previous demolition work of similar style structures in the area.

Question: What is the project schedule?

Response: Contractor shall have twenty (20) calendar days to complete all work from the date of a notice to proceed. This includes the contractor obtaining all permits and licenses to perform the work

Question: Do the footers need to be removed if they can be covered with apx 4 inch topsoil?

Response: Footers may be left so long as they are completely covered by at least 4 inches of top soil.

Question: With the removal of the crawl space, there may be a low area. Is it acceptable to fill with broken, compacted concrete and add topsoil on top?

Response: Crushed block is acceptable so long as there is 4 inches of soil on top.

Question: There is a steel covered drum at the back corner of the house. Can the contents be hauled as C & D debris? If not, can you specify its contents so we can handle the waste properly?

Response: The steel-covered drum may be left on-site for the MKAA to handle separately.
