Question: Can you account for the uptick in work comp claims from 7/1/21 -6/30/22 (wc claims reported 611) and 7/1/20- 6/30/21 (wc claims reported 985). Was the increase in claims during the two year period tied to an event? Were the majority of the claims medical only claims?
Response: The uptick in data in FY21 is due to 2 causes: a. The County transitioned vendors between FY20 and FY21. FY21, FY22, and FY23 “New” claims are inclusive of Incident Only claims; FY19 and FY20 “New” claims are exclusive of Incident Only claims. See the revised data below. b. We had a spike in claims from April 2020-mid/to late 2022 due to COVID. In the beginning, we had employees report ALL possible exposures as Record Only claims. Question: Can you account for the uptick in work comp claims from 7/1/21 -6/30/22 (wc claims reported 611) and 7/1/20- 6/30/21 (wc claims reported 985). Was the increase in claims during the two year period tied to an event? Were the majority of the claims medical only claims?
Response: The uptick in data in FY21 is due to 2 causes: a. The County transitioned vendors between FY20 and FY21. FY21, FY22, and FY23 “New” claims are inclusive of Incident Only claims; FY19 and FY20 “New” claims are exclusive of Incident Only claims. See the revised data below. b. We had a spike in claims from April 2020-mid/to late 2022 due to COVID. In the beginning, we had employees report ALL possible exposures as Record Only claims.
