Description: The Burlington Police Department is a CALEA accredited department employing 152 sworn officers and 50 support staff. The department proactively seeks to leverage technology to address the stated goals and objectives of providing timely professional policing services to the citizens of Burlington. Recently, the department was awarded the 2024 NC Law Enforcement Agency of the Year, a high honor among the 509 law enforcement agencies within the state.
The department has implemented a real-time crime center which will be staffed by sworn and unsworn personnel. Earlier this year the department added a drone program to help provide joint services for both the police and fire department within the city. This program has been a marked success thus far with the plan to deploy even more drones in the future across the city.
The addition of a video wall within the real-time crime center will allow staff the ability to interact and coordinate more resources in the field, providing command staff the ability to make timely decisions in support of the department’s primary objective.
