Question 1
Posted: 1/18/2022

Posted: 1/18/2022
Question: 2) Do you have any soil borings for this site from the previous construction? If so, can you please provide a copy to the bidders?
Response: The original soil borings are not available
Question 3
Posted: 1/18/2022
Question: 3) Do you know how far out the dock pad goes underwater from the abutment?
Response: This is unknown
Question 4
Posted: 1/18/2022
Question: 4) Do the new concrete piling go inside the floating dock or outside like the existing? Either way, it appears we will be cutting holes for the piling in the dock pad even out under water at low tide.
Response: The new piles locations shall be provided by the engineer. All piles shall be internal. Cutting holes in the concrete dock pad will be required.
Question 5
Posted: 1/18/2022
Question: 5) Looking at the boat ramp/dock pad area versus the adjacent shoreline, it appears the boat ramp was built up on “fill” five or six feet above the original shoreline to get the slope needed for the ramp. The question is does the county know from the original construction drawings what type of fill is under the dock pad? The reason for the question is that when we cut holes in the dock pad to drive the piles, we will have to drive through this fill. Most boat landings use riprap, broken concrete, or #4 granite as fill because the tide can’t wash it away. It is very difficult to drive piling through that type of fill. It would help us to know what type of fill we will have to deal with.
Response: We do not have the design of the original facility. It should be expected to possibly encounter ballast stone, rip rap and possibly other debris below the existing groundout dock.
Question 6
Posted: 1/18/2022
Question: When we remove the existing timber piles, do we extract them or cut them off flush with the concrete?
Response: The existing timber piles shall be cut off at or slightly below the mudline
Question 7
Posted: 1/18/2022
Question: If we extract the existing timber piles, do we have to fill the holes left behind?
Response: The existing timber piles shall be cut off at or slightly below the mudline
Question 8
Posted: 1/18/2022
Question: On page 6 of the package “Required Forms”, ‘K’ Schedule of Prices was not included. Will this be provided in an Addendum?
Response: Schedule of prices will be posted as an addendum
Question 9
Posted: 1/18/2022
Question: On page 3 of the IFB documents, it askes for S.C. Tax No. Would this be sales tax or withholding tax?
Response: This asks for your SC Tax ID number. It usually starts with two numbers then a dash then 7 numbers after the dash. It is what you get from the state.
