1.0 INTRODUCTION
The City of Forest Hills is accepting bids for Steel Utility Poles. Bids will be due on Thursday, May
19, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. CST via electronic submission described in Section 6.0 Proposal
Submission.
1.1 SCOPE OF WORK
The City of Forest Hills seeks Bids for Steel Utility Poles on which cameras will be
installed.
2.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Anchor Bolts. Anchor Bolts shall conform to ASTM F1554.
- Base Cover. Each pole shall include a base cover.
- Color and Finish. Each pole shall be powder coated black with a commercial grade,
super durable powder coat.
- Design. Each pole shall be designed according to the current edition of AASHTO LRFD
Specifications for Structural Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires, and Traffic Signals.
When designing for wind load, square foot area of pole to include cameras and mount
box (see Technical Specifications for Cameras and Mount Box), electrical mast/riser,
and weather head.
- Handhole. Each pole shall include a UL compliant handhole.
- Pole Dimensions and Material. Each pole shall be 16 feet in height. Each pole shall be
composed of steel with a minimum yield strength of 42,000 psi.
3.0 VENDOR REQUIREMENTS
- Delivery. Anchor bolts shall be shipped in advance of delivery of steel utility poles. Vendor
shall deliver steel utility poles and anchor bolts to:

6300 Hillsboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37215
- Duration. Prices submitted shall be valid for a period of 90 days.
- Forms. Vendor must complete attached Price Sheet.

4.0 EVALUATION OF PROPOSALS
The City of Forest Hills will award the contract to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder
meeting all specifications, quality standards, and performance standards pursuant to the
Municipal Purchasing Act of 1983. Response will be based on the following factors:
- Completeness of Response
- Cost
- Vendor Track Record, including References
- Quality of Service
- Quality of Product
5.0 CONTRACT AWARD
The City of Forest Hills reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive any
informality found therein. The City of Forest Hills will award a contract based on evaluations
described above.
6.0 PROPOSAL SUBMISSION
BID OPENING: Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. CST
Bids must be received by the City of Forest Hills Office on or before Thursday, May 19, 2022 at
10:00 A.M. CST (Bids received after that time will not be considered), at which time the bids will
be publicly opened and read aloud.

Question: 2.0 Technical Requirements - Color and Finish - Your specification does not mention galvanizing. Just verifying that you DO NOT want these poles galvanized and you only want the super durable powder coat.

Response: Thank you for your question! The poles need to be black powder coated and have a minimum yield strength of 42,000 psi used to fabricate the pole shaft.
