Dorchester
County Sales Tax Transportation Authority (DCTA) invites sealed bids to provide
improvements
to 3.527 miles of US 78. The total
project length is 4.102 miles and it begins approximately 0.30 miles southeast
of the intersection with SC-27 S (Ridgeville Rd) and ends approximately 0.68
miles northwest of S-22 S (Orangeburg Rd).
The project includes shoulder improvements throughout the entire 3.527
mile project with 1.40 miles of two-lane road being widened to three lanes from
just before the intersection with Myers Mayo Road to just after Water Wheel
Road and 0.93 miles of roadway being widened to five lanes from .38 miles
southwest of SC 27S to just past the intersection with S-69 (Stable Lane). One existing reinforced concrete box culvert
will be replaced with a 6’ x 6’ cast-in-place culvert

Question: Would a change in bid date be considered? The SCDOT letting is on the same date & time and there are projects with similar scopes being bid. It would be advantageous to the county for bidders to be able to focus exclusively on this solicitation and not have to split efforts between this solicitation and the SCDOT letting.

Question: On sheet 3G the typical section for Sable Lane & Wagon Trail Rd. calls for 6" Graded Aggregate Base Course. There is no pay item for 6" GABC. If the typical section is correct will a pay item be added for 6" GABC?

Question: We wanted to ask if Dorchester County would entertain the possibility of moving the bid date for this project to possibly 12/10 (or later) since the current bid date of 12/8 falls on the monthly SCDOT letting date with multiple jobs in this area bidding on that date.
