Question 3

Posted: 8/17/2018

Question: The team is asking for a little clarification on “high availability” on the virtual machines in the remote sites. My SA’s want to be sure they are not mixing this up with DR-local, or DR-remote. You’re referring to item number 1 below correct? 1. Highly available - In the case of a component or hosting failure, the virtual machine will either be moved or restarted on a new host in the same datacenter. The failover process is automatic. 2. Disaster Recovery (Local) - A second copy of the machine is loaded and updated on a machine locally and can be started up quickly in the event of hardware failure. The start up of the local DR Copy is manual. 3. Disaster Recovery (Remote) - A second copy of the machine is loaded on a machine in another location or at a cloud provider. It can be started quickly in the event of hardware failure. The start up of the remote copy is manual.
