Title: Network Cabling at 700 Old Montgomery Road and City Hall

Deadline: 3/10/2021 9:00 AM   (UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)

Status: Deadline Expired

Solicitation Number: RFP 0309-2021

Description:

The City of Conroe is in the process of renovating several facilities and requesting RFPs for the removal of old existing
cabling and installation of Cat6 cabling, patch panels, fiber and wall mounted locking boxes (where notated). The RFP
should also include the removal and disposal of old existing cabling for each location. The selected vendor will need to
work around a few existing functional cabling, IE: HVAC system at 700 Old Montgomery Rd and data cabling in City Hall
floors that serves existing City staff. The cabling installation for each facility and floor will be scheduled as each facility
renovations are complete and/or vacated by tenants. City Hall 4th and 5th floors are currently occupied by tenants and is
not open for a site visit. RFPs will need to be completed from the attached drawings. Drop location is identified for
each facility but the City understands that the drops may need to be relocated due to wall construction or other issues.
All moves should be approved by the IT department before installation. RFP submittals need to be separated by location
and floor.

Response: 1. Are the IT closets in the City Hall Building are stacked on top of each other? a. They are stacked on top of each other next to the elevators 2. Will we need to core drill between IT closets or is there room in the existing chases for the new fiber optic cable? a. In reference to City Hall, we currently have fiber between the floors (which is in the RFP to replace). When this was installed, no coring was needed so we do not expect this will be required. b. 700 Old Montgomery Rd only has 1 MDF closet. 3. How many strands should the OM3 fiber optic cable be? a. Between floors at City Hall - 6 strands b. Between City Hall and 700 Old Montgomery – 12 strands. 4. Will all of the fiber enclosures be rack mounted? a. City Hall 2nd floor currently has a 2-post rack for a fiber panel, 4th and 5th floor will have a 9U wall mounted rack for fiber and switch. 5. Will we supply the fiber enclosures for each floor? a. We are thinking fiber panels at this point mounted in the racks. 6. Do you have a manufacturer preference for the fiber panels and enclosures? No 7. Do we supply fiber optic jumpers, and if so how long? Yes, 10' 8. Do you have a manufacturer preference for Category 6 cable, patch panels, wall mount cabinets and data jacks? a. No 9. Is there a specific port count per faceplate that is desired to be used at each work station? a. 2 ports per plate unless there is density in one location then the vendor can determine the number. Reminder – the drawings may specify a location for a drop but wall construction may require it to be moved slightly or on a different wall.
