Description:

A.    PURPOSE OF THIS REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

The City of Carlsbad is soliciting proposals, on behalf of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, from firms interested in custom designing, constructing and installing three (3) separate LED Digital Signs to be located at each of the City’s three main entrance points. The signs will serve to welcome travelers and tourists to Carlsbad.  The signs will be located at the entrance to the City from the East (Highway 62), from North (Highway 285) and from the Southeast on (Highway 285).  Precise placement of each sign will be determined at a later date.  

B.    SCOPE OF PROCUREMENT  The project will include designing, constructing and installing each of the three (3) LED signs as well as a custom structure to support and serve as a stand or base for supporting and elevating each sign per the specifications provided in the RFP.  Work will include site preparation, all applicable construction permits, including but not limited to the Construction Industries Division, NMDOT and any other required permitting. Work will also include establishing electrical service to the sign locations as needed.

Overview: The City of Carlsbad is located in a somewhat isolated location.  Both FedEx and UPS deliver to this area, but I know from past experience that neither will guarantee overnight delivery to this area, since the closest international airport is 160 miles away.  So, please take this into consideration when sending your proposals.  You will likely need allow two days for delivery.

Overview: The selection committee is scheduled for a third and final meeting the week of December 17th. We were a bit delayed due to having to work around the Thanksgiving holiday and a few other scheduling conflicts. We appreciate your patience as we work through this difficult selection process. However, we do anticipate being able to arrive at a final decision by the end of December and make a recommendation for award to our City Council at our January 11th meeting. Once the award has been approved by the City Council, all parties will be informed of our decision and provided with a complete scoring tabulation at that time.
