Description:
The City of Beaufort is seeking to purchase
and have installed twenty-seven (27) bench swings and chains to replace
the current fourteen (14) year old wooden swings and chains located at the
Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, 950 Bay Street, Beaufort, SC. The replacement swings and chains will be
commercial grade and designed to be utilized daily 365 days a year by a variety
of people and exposed to harsh elements such as extreme temperatures, direct
sunlight, salt water and air, rain, snow etc.
The swings will be installed on the current infrastructure which
includes a steel beam and stone columns.

Specificationsof the Materials and Installation:
1. Width of bench swing should be 6 ft andcommercial grade construction with bolts and reinforcement hardware that mustresist rust and corrosion. Any eyeboltsmush closed loop.
2. Swing should be made of solid wood orcomposite that mimics wood (grain, texture, color, etc.) and is resistant to rot and insects and willwithstand harsh elements such as direct sunlight, heavy rains, snow, wind andextreme temperatures. Examples of woodsuch wood would be cypress; cedar; white oak; ipe; teak; acacia; mahogany;redwood; shorea; Brazilian walnut; eucalyptus black locust, etc. Stainless steel screws and hardware arepreferred.
3. Minimal maintenance requirements.
4. Swing hanger brackets (aka ductile swingers)must be galvanized steel.
5. Chains gauge must be between 3/8 to 5/16 andmade of top-grade galvanized steel. Chain attachments to swing hangers must begalvanized steel Quick Link. Currentswing hanger brackets on steel support beam are 6ft apart and cannot be moved.
6. Installation by vendor is preferred and shallbe priced separately.
7. Delivery and installation must be completed byAugust 30, 2020
