Question 1

Posted: 9/4/2024

Question: For cost proposal, do we enter a rate for each position (LPN, RN, etc) or do you want the maximum rate as there is one line item?

Response: Please include rates for each position.

Question 2

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: Is the agency responsible for providing orientation to the skilled nurse staff, or will the school/district orient new nurse staff?

Response: For the most part, we send agency nurses on field trips to administer medications (as some states do not recognize Kentucky’s delegation to unlicensed personnel). They are there to respond to medical emergencies, give emergency medications and/or cover diabetic care.

Question 3

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: Will the school district nurse develop the plan of care and MD orders for the student, or will this be a requirement of the agency? o Who will manage / update the physician's orders on the IHP?

Response: The physician orders are on file with the district, and as stated above include medication, and dosages. o Who will manage / update the physician's orders on the IHP? This is for a field trip, IHPs would carry over from their every day plans.

Question 4

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: Who will maintain the documentation and be responsible for it?

Response: The nurse on the trip will document medications given, or treatments done on forms provided by the district.

Question 5

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: Will the student be transported with skilled nurse staff using any mode other than the school bus? If yes, under what circumstances? o Would the nurse be required to Drive the student in any circumstance?

Response: Interesting question, we have not had an instance of an MSD student attending an overnight field trip, if this should occur, then we may need to look into alternative transportation, but currently that has not been the case. If yes, under what circumstances? o Would the nurse be required to Drive the student in any circumstance? Not in any trip that has been planned for the past 10 years.

Question 6

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: Does the school have its own school-provided documentation, or does the contracted agency provide documentation?

Response: We provide

Question 7

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: Is there any expectation for the contracted agency to provide supervision of the contracted school staff? If yes, how often?

Response: The contract is for nurses to accompany students on overnight field trips. We have been doing this for years in order to cover students with medications and care that cannot be delegated to a non-licensed person in another state.

Question 8

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: Will an in-person orientation be required students at school?

Response: Generally we have the school nurse go over student care needs with person covering field trip.

Question 9

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: What are overnight accommodations?

Response: Accommodations necessary when you travel out of state. Usually a hotel.

Question 10

Posted: 9/9/2024

Question: What is nurse to student ratio? o Are all students medically fragile?

Response: Not really. Generally it is a grade level field trip, which in most schools is 30-60 students (sometimes slightly higher). Not all are in need of care, just those who need daily medications, have asthma, diabetes or a seizure disorder.
