Description: Ft. Fremont is a Spanish American War coastal defense artifact built in 1898 to defend the Coast of Beaufort County, South Carolina. It was acquired into the Rural & Critical Lands program of Beaufort County to preserve and protect an important chapter in American history. To that end, the Beaufort County Council is proposing to build an Interpretive Center on the lands of the Fort to provide an educational experience to the visitors of the Fort Fremont facility. The Interpretive Center will have many artifacts and display items that represent the history of the Fort. The scope of work consist of but not limited to the following: the construction of a 2,564 square foot building containing an exhibition hall, conference room, public rest rooms, pathways, pavilion, and the installation of exterior interpretive signage (already in possession of the County)
