Description: This is a fuelwood harvest with a component of pine thinning comprised of approximately 81 acres within the Bayard Conservation Area, located south of SR 16. The Sale Area is located in Section 2; Township 7 South; Range 26 East. Sale boundaries include CR 226, conservation area roads, posted property boundary, and firebreaks (Maps are included in the attached agreement).

All premerchantable pines and hardwoods shall be “whole tree” chipped and removed from the site, with the exception of turkey oaks. Turkey oaks shall be retained unless the District’s Project Manager determines a percentage shall be harvested. Areas of dense mature slash pine shall be thinned to a residual density of 45-50 square feet of basal area. Merchantable pine shall not be chipped, it is to be loaded tree length and delivered for pulpwood or chip-n-saw. Criteria for thinning pines is to harvest diseased, defective, and suppressed trees first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired density. The District roughly estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 5000 tons of fuelwood, 300 tons of pulpwood, and 255 tons of Chip-n-saw, but there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
