Description: The Avondale Municipal Art Committee (AMAC) invites professional artists** to submit an application for displaying their work on utility traffic boxes along Dysart Road and Western Avenue as part of a temporary exhibition to remain on display for potentially two to five years.
Artists will be selected to display functional public art to enrich and enliven the community on six utility traffic boxes that have been selected around various locations in the City. Qualified artwork design shall be in the form of a vinyl wrap or applied to the utility box. The AMAC will pay for design and installation costs up to $2,000 per utility box.
Themes have been identified for each of the designated utility boxes to complement the character of the surrounding area or neighborhoods. They are designated as follows:
• TS1 SEC Avondale Boulevard and McDowell Road (near Circle K)
• TS2 NWC 101 Avenue and McDowell Road (near Costco power center)
• TS3 NEC 103 Avenue and McDowell Road
• TS4 NEC 107 Avenue and McDowell Road
• TS5 SWC Rancho Santa Fe Boulevard and McDowell Road (near La Petite Academy Preschool)
• TS6 SWC Friendship Park and McDowell Road
