Question: Q-1, The insurance requirements directs the contractor to provide Builder's Risk Insurance for the full amount of contract. however, the Insurance Checklist odes not check BR insurance as required coverage. Please clarify whether Builder's Risk Insurance will be required. Q-2, Is Prevailing Wage Rates applicable to this contract? If yes, could you please provide the applicable rates. Q-3, Are there As-Built Drawings available for certain bridges. Particularly to estimate quantities for some items such as bridge painting, which are paid as lump sum, we will need these drawings. Thank you for your responses to the above questions.
Response: Q-1: Yes, Builder's Risk Insurance is required. Q-2: No, prevailing wage rates do not apply to this contract. Q-3: Structures 0020, 0000, 5005, 1031, 5033 are either pedestrian or culverts, there are no existing plans available for these structures. Please see attached plans for structure 0001.

Question: Please clarify/respond to the following: a. What is the Initial Contract Term (duration)? We need this for bonding purposes. b. Item 75 is for removing and replacing outlet aprons. Please inform how temporary stream diversion will be paid if necessary. c. There is no specification for Item 30, Replace Bearings, and no specific structure is identified. Please inform the type of bearing to be replaced for pricing purposes. Also inform if necessary jacking and blocking will be paid separately under Item 46, or it should be included in bearing replacement price. Thank you.
Response: a. Typical contract term is 1 year with 4 1-yr optional renewals. b. Temporary stream diversion will be paid for under bid item 76. c. Replace Bearing is a standard VDOT item and shall be in accordance with Section 426.03(e) of the 2020 VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications. Jacking and Blocking will be paid separately as per the Specification. No structure is identified for this work at this time.
