Description:
The project generally consists of modifications to two (2) existing backwash pump/motor
assemblies and the installation of two (2) new Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). The
pump/motor assembly modification entails removing two (2) existing Magna Drive variable
speed drives and the respective motors. The existing motors are to be replaced with new 125
HP motors which are compatible with the vertical turbine pumps (VT) and designed to take the
shaft end thrust from the pump shaft. A custom fabricated drive shaft will be required to
replace the Magna Drive assembly and connect the new motor to the VT pump. The speed of
the new 125 HP motors will be controlled by the new VFDs. Installation and wiring of the new
VFDs is included in the project scope.
