The City of Olney will receive bids for the furnishing of a new Sewage Grinder at the Olney Sewage Treatment Plant, including a sewage grinder, controller, and miscellaneous items, until 10:30 A.M. on February 3, 2021, at the Olney City Hall, 300 S. Whittle Ave., Olney, IL 62450, at which time and place all bids will be opened.

Bidding information and Contract Documents may be obtained by depositing $25.00 with Charleston Engineering, Inc., 105 N. Kitchell Ave., Olney, IL 62450.  Phone 618-392-0736.  Deposit for the contract documents is non-refundable.

A certified check or bank draft, payable to the City of Olney, negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (at par value), or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety in an amount equal to 5% of the total bid shall be submitted with each bid.

Attention is called to the fact that not less than the general prevailing rate of wages in Olney for each craft or type of worker needed to execute the contract or perform such work shall be paid.  Also, the general prevailing rate of wages for legal holiday and overtime work, as ascertained by the Illinois Department of Labor, shall be paid for each craft or type of worker to execute the contract or to perform the work.  Requirements for determining the prevailing wage rates are in the contract documents.  The Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

The City of Olney reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding.

A Substance Abuse Policy and certificate of insurance shall be submitted before a contract is signed.

Bids may be held by the City of Olney for a period not to exceed 60 days from the date of the opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of Bidders, prior to awarding the Contract.
